Who knew!?!
I've missed this place. But I've been a little busy getting all settled in to our new home, sweet home.
So until I can collect my thoughts about this whole...process, let's call it...would you like to see some pictures?
This is the foyer, featuring fireplace #1 of 5. Yes, it's stupid crazy that a house has five fireplaces. Yes, I love them, every last one.
This is the staircase and deacon's bench that greets your eyes when you first enter the house. This is also the view that made my heart stop before I'd even crossed the threshold for the first time.
The staircase. I have no words to adequately describe how much I love this staircase. See the stained glass atop the long windows there? There are four of those puppies.
This is half of the kitchen. The exposed brick, open shelving and copper are what sent my husband's heart lurching during that first walk through. It's an amazing space, although it is in need of a complete overhaul of cabinets (really horrid, honest, and don't get me started on the countertop and appliances).
The other half of the kitchen. There is a back staircase up to the second floor. That rolltop desk in the corner is where I'm sitting as I write this up.
Now you see how I've been spending all my time of late. This is a lot of house. There were a metric ton of boxes to move in, unpack, distribute and organize.
And I got a job.
And I have a significant volunteer gig.
And?
I have seen at least one person I "used to know" every single day since we've been back.
It's been a wild ride. It's been wonderful to be home.
And it feels pretty good to back in this little piece of my heart, too.
